How to Make Natural Holi Colors at Home for Kids (100% Safe) |
The festival of colors is almost here! Holi is a time for absolute joy, especially for little kids. But as a parent, seeing your child covered in cheap, chemical-filled market colors is terrifying.
So, should you stop your kids from playing Holi? Absolutely not! The safest and most fun way to celebrate is by making your own 100% natural, organic colors using simple ingredients from your kitchen. It is so safe that even if your toddler accidentally tastes it, there is no harm!
Here are 4 super easy recipes to make beautiful, glowing Holi colors at home:
1. Glowing Yellow 💛 (हल्दी और बेसन का पीला रंग)
This is not just a color; it is basically an "Ubtan" (उबटन) that will make your child's skin glow!
Dry Color (गुलाल): Mix 2 spoons of organic Turmeric (हल्दी) with 4 spoons of Gram Flour (बेसन) or Arrowroot powder. Rub it together to make a bright, soft yellow powder.
Wet Color: Just mix a pinch of turmeric in a bucket of water.
2. Vibrant Bright Pink / Red ❤️ (चुकंदर का जादुई लाल रंग)
Beetroot gives the most beautiful, deep pinkish-red stain, and kids love the magic of watching the water change color!
Wet Color: Grate 2-3 Beetroots (चुकंदर) and soak them in a liter of water overnight. By morning, you will have a deep magenta water color! Dilute it in a bucket for them to play with.
Dry Color: Dry some rose petals or hibiscus (गुड़हल) flowers in the sun, and grind them into a fine powder. Add a little flour for volume.
3. Fresh Leafy Green 💚 (पालक और मेहंदी का हरा रंग)
Forget those toxic, shiny green paints from the market that take days to wash off!
Dry Color: Take pure, unmixed Henna powder (मेहंदी) and mix it with an equal amount of regular wheat flour (आटा). (Make sure it is pure mehendi, not the chemical hair-dye ones!)
Wet Color: Boil a bunch of Spinach (पालक) or Neem leaves in water, let it cool, and strain it.
4. Beautiful Purple 💜 (काले अंगूर या जामुन)
Wet Color: If you want a fun purple water fight, simply crush some black grapes (काले अंगूर) or use sliced red cabbage boiled in water.
It creates a stunning, completely natural purple color!
The Bottom Line: A Safe Environment is Everything 🌟
Making these colors together with your kids is also a fantastic pre-Holi fun activity!
