1. Compartment vs. Improvement: What is the exact difference? 🤔 (दोनों में क्या अंतर है?)

Parents and students often confuse these two exams.

• Compartment Exam: This is for students who have failed in 1 or 2 subjects.

• Improvement Exam: This is for students who have successfully passed all subjects but are unhappy with their scores and want to increase their percentage. 

• (यह एग्जाम सिर्फ मार्क्स बढ़ाने के लिए होता है।)

2. How Many Subjects Can I Give the Re-Exam In? 📚 (कितने विषयों का एग्जाम दे सकते हैं?)

This is where the official CBSE rules are very strict. You have two distinct options depending on how many subjects you want to improve:

• Option A: The Same Year (Supplementary Exam) If you want to save your year and apply for college admissions immediately, you can appear for the Improvement Exam in ONLY ONE subject during the Supplementary Exams held in July.

• Option B: The Next Year (Main Exam) If you want to improve your marks in more than one subject (up to 5 core subjects), you cannot do it in the same year. You will have to wait and appear for the regular board exams next year (in February/March) as a "Private Candidate."

• The school will fill out the LOC (List of Candidates) form and submit your improvement fee (approx ₹200-₹300 per subject) to CBSE.

• Important Note on Syllabus: If you decide to drop a year and give the exam next year, remember that you will have to study the new syllabus for that current year!
